Nondegree

Nondegree Status

In addition to the Ph.D., Masters, and Certificate programs, SCS also offers Nondegree status for those students who may wish to take only a few courses, or for those who have not been able to assemble the necessary application materials for one of the other programs before the beginning of the semester. Up to 12 credit hours taken in Nondegree status may be applied towards an academic program in the future.

For admission into SCS Nondegree status, applicants should have a B.S. degree in mathematics, computer science, engineering, or natural science. Foreign applicants must also submit results of the TOEFL exam.

Admission to Nondegree status does not guarantee admission to the Certificate, Doctoral, or Masters programs at a later date. Students who do not register for the term for which they are accepted may have their enrollment postponed for one semester upon written request to the SCS Graduate Admissions Processing Center.

For Nondegree applications, the following materials are required:

SCS Nondegree application
$50.00 non-refundable application fee (make checks payable to George Mason University)
Official or unofficial transcripts
Resume (optional)

If Nondegree admission is approved, a letter of admission will be sent to you. Admitted students may use the telephone registration system by calling 993-4GMU (993-4468) to register for classes during their assigned registration timeframe.
