Tripolar Grid Implementation

We have developed an R program to generate tripolar grids for Poseidon. The analysis follows Murray(1996), but then implements the algorithm in R, and writes the grid coordinates to a binary file. Included in the output are :

  • Locations of cell corners
  • Rotation angles at the corners
  • Location of cell centers
  • Rotation angles at cell centers
  • Distance between cell faces
  • Cell box area
  • Locations of cell face centers
  • Rotation angles at cell face centers
  • Length of cell faces
